Meet the Co-founders

Chuck Wooters — Co-founder

Chuck is a veteran of conversational AI and human-language technology. He currently serves as Head of AI at DisplaceTV, building highly personalized multimodal conversational agents. Over a 30-year career he has held senior research and engineering roles at Apple, Microsoft, Semantic Machines, Marr Labs, BBN Technologies, and others. His work has focused on deep-learning models for spoken dialogue, speaker diarization, automatic speech recognition and natural-language understanding. Chuck holds a Ph.D. in Speech Recognition and MA/BA degrees in Linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Mitch Wooters — Co-founder

Mitch brings more than three decades of construction-industry experience to Updaytr. His experience spans training and development, project management, director-level field operations and work as a licensed general contractor. Recent roles include Construction Superintendent at Baron Construction and Remodeling and Field Operations Manager at Barbosa Cabinets, where he oversaw about 3,900 cabinet installations annually. Mitch is also an OSHA-authorized outreach trainer with broad skills in process improvement and operations management.

Natasha Hughes — Co-founder

Natasha is a creative problem-solver whose career spans special-events and hospitality sales. She has developed expertise in event strategy, logistics, budgeting and client relations. Her collaboration with Chuck on the AI "biographer" for her grandmother — capturing stories by phone rather than typing — sparked the idea that became Updaytr. Natasha holds a BA in Social Sciences from Washington State University and is currently working toward her MA in Analytics at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Our Origin Story

Updaytr started as a simple family project. Chuck and his daughter Natasha were collaborating on an AI "biographer" to help Chuck's mom easily record her life stories over the phone. She wanted to preserve her memories but found typing difficult — calling and speaking was much easier and more natural.

Meanwhile, Chuck's brother Mitch was facing his own challenge as a construction supervisor. After long, exhausting days managing job sites, he still had to complete detailed daily updates for each project. Sitting down to type reports was the last thing he wanted to do when he got home.

When Mitch heard about the AI biographer project, something clicked. "Hey, that would be perfect for my daily updates!" he told Chuck. Why should he have to type when he could just call and speak his updates while driving between job sites?

That conversation between two brothers sparked the idea for Updaytr. What started as a way to help grandma share her stories became a solution for busy professionals who need to provide updates but prefer speaking to typing.

As Chuck, Mitch, and Natasha continued developing both tools, they had a key realization: the biographer and the daily updates system shared the exact same three-step pattern. First, collect information through natural conversation. Then, organize it using AI. Finally, distribute the results via email. This simple but powerful framework could work for far more than just biographies and construction updates.

That insight transformed Updaytr from a single-purpose tool into a flexible platform. Today, whether you're recording your life story, managing field teams, or brainstorming ideas with an AI that can search the web, you're using the same proven process: collect, organize, distribute.
